The concept of Money in the Bank was introduced by Chris Jericho. However, Jericho himself has never won the briefcase. The match was introduced at WrestleMania 21, where The Rated R Superstar, Edge won it. Edge would later cash in the briefcase on a vulnerable John Cena to win the WWE Championship.

Over the years, the idea of cashing in has strengthened. While the majority of the superstars winning the briefcase have cashed in during a moment of choice. However, several superstars have failed to cash-in, in and win the championship of their choice. Superstars such as Baron Corbin, Braun Strowman, Damien Sandow, John Cena, and now, Austin Theory have lodged their names in that book.

The latest episode of WWE Monday Night Raw saw Austin Theory cashing in his briefcase on a vulnerable Seth Rollins. However, as he was about to pin Rollins, an attack was lodged by Bobby Lashley. Lashley would launch a carnage and destroy Theory. After The All Mighty left, leaving Theory destroyed, Rollins would deliver his finishing move and pin Theory.

It led to Theory unsuccessfully losing his Money in the Bank briefcase, and lodging his name in the history books, alongside a few unlucky people. Soon enough, Baron Corbin would take to Twitter and post a hilarious tweet, while taking a dig at the 16-time World Champion, John Cena.

Corbin would welcome Theory to a special club led by John Cena. Although, he did not mention anything else; it was a reference to them having unsuccessful cash-ins. While John Cena failed his cash-in against CM Punk, Corbin failed against Jinder Mahal. It was Cena that had the first official failed cash-in.

Is John Cena going to return for a match at WrestleMania 39?

WWE Legend John Cena is currently enjoying the time of his life in Hollywood. He had his last match in WWE at SummerSlam 2021, in a losing bout to The Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns. However, after he had a few appearances but they did not lead to anything or any sort of match.

2022 is the only year since his debut that John Cena has not wrestled a single match. However, it seems that is about to change. As per reports, Cena is slated to appear in a match at WrestleMania 39. Reports state that Cena is trying to be the next ‘Rock’ and a match at WrestleMania 39 in Hollywood might aid that. The Rock is also rumored to be at WrestleMania 39, in a match against Roman Reigns.
