John Cena has made his debut at WWE more than two decades ago. Since his run started in 2002, he has added a number of titles and accolades to his name. Considered a veteran, a lot of stars look up to him. Despite having a repertoire of skills, the 46-year-old star thinks that he hasn’t performed to his previous capabilities. At the media scrum after WWE Fastlane, the star showed his humble side after destroying Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa of Bloodline. He talked about how he wants to keep his fans happy, even at this age.

John Cena showcases his humble side

At the media scrum following Fastlane 2023, a reporter asked Cena how he felt about his second run at WW, He also asked the Hollywood star his expectations for his run in WWE. To this, the Leader of the Cenation gave a very humble reply. He said, “I’ve got some work to do and I realize that I got something to figure out to function at the level that I used to. To be able to perform at a level that is worthy of what I am familiar with, what the audience is familiar with” He even added that his match at Fastlane came as form of understanding to see how much he can push himself physically.

Talking about how long he might stay around, he said, “Physically I am 46. I’ve told everybody this ain’t the last one but the last one is on the horizon.” Nevertheless, even though the last match is inevitable, he gives the assurance that he will try to replicate his previous level. He concluded by saying that he knows that there are certain areas which he needs to focus on and will give his best performance.

The statements given by John Cena at the media scrum showed a humble and vulnerable side of the star. The Hollywood star’s willingness to give his best is definitely commendable but there are chances that injuries from his past might affect his performance at this age. 

Cena’s never-give-up mantra to veer its head again?

The first major injury the star suffered was back in 2007. During a match with Mr. Kennedy at Raw, he suffered an injury while performing a hip toss. After medical examination, it was revealed that his right pectoral muscle was completely torn off from the bone. He underwent surgery the very next day and WWE issued a statement saying that he would not be seen in the ring for 6 months to a year. But in 2008, he lived up to his motto and came back at the 2008 Royal Rumble match.

However, he was not done yet. Apart from suffering various other injuries, he had suffered a major tear in his rotator cuff on the same side where he had a torn pec. For this, the star underwent surgery again, but this time, the promotion did not highlight a return date. WWE said that this time, the star will be on a hiatus for some time. But he is John Cena. He was seen again at WrestleMania of the same year where he helped The Rock against the attack by the Wyatt family. Later on, he joined full time at the Memorial Day edition of Raw in 2016.
