16-time World Champion John Cena was interviewed by WWE commentator Corey Graves on his podcast WWE After The Bell with Corey Graves & Kevin Patrick. While Cena went into several discussions, one that stood out was an inference to his potential retirement.

Cena rejoined the wrestling world part-time in 2019, after a few years of focusing on his acting career. While the wrestler-turned-actor has been more hands-on recently, thanks to the recent Hollywood strikes, this is predicted to end soon enough. However, with the topic of retirement coming up, Cena might just be thinking about wrapping up his career as a whole.

During the interview, John Cena talked about his GOAT moniker and his recent return to WWE. While talking about his retirement, Cena said, “I also want to contribute to the WWE and then walk away from it. And I mean like walk away not all hunched over, not all broken and beaten but appreciative and healthy and with a perspective of ‘this is a great chapter in the story of my life and one that made me who I am’.

Cena was referring to the health issues that often affect the post-retirement life of wrestlers. Hulk Hogan, The Undertaker, and Ric Flair are some of the more prominent examples of such ailments. Cena stated that he wants to walk out of retirement as a healthy man instead of being broken and beaten.

Cena further gave another reason for his potential early retirement when he talked about the comparison to younger talents. He said, “The sad struggle that I have every day is I’m 46, I’ll be 47 in April, and everyone is so skilled that I can’t do the things that I used to do anymore. And I don’t know if you’ve been watching my stuff, but I don’t do that much.

Cena was referring to his recent losses against younger talents such as Austin Theory. He faced Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso at Fastlane in a tag match alongside LA Knight. It was followed by another singles match against Solo Sikoa at Crown Jewel.
