John Cena has returned to WWE again. Following his bombastic WrestleMania XL appearance, fans have been seeing him get involved with other tag teams. However, his Hollywood schedule still seems pretty busy. On top of other lineups, we can potentially see Peacemaker returning to our screens with its latest season.

In January 2022, John Cena reprised his role in the superhero series after he played Peacemaker in the 2021 James Gunn reboot of Suicide Squad. Although the second season of Peacemaker is still awaiting a release date, John Cena has already started teasing it on his social media.

Instagram is the perfect platform for The Cenation Leader to share things without context. He recently uploaded a picture on his official account without revealing what he meant by the same. Although it is difficult to make out the original meaning behind it, he has left his Instagram posts at the followers’ discretion; allowing them to decipher it on their own.

In the image, we can see the Peacemaker’s helmet sitting on a stationary platform in the middle of the woods. While this could also mean that Cena is missing his time as the anti-hero, the post might also be a foreshadowing of what is to come soon.

There have been times when Cena has uploaded teases before without a release date in sight for the second season. However, given some of the more recent updates and reports, there is a possibility that this particular Instagram post in question may be a foreshadowing of the second season that is waiting to be released.

We may see John Cena as Peacemaker again, sooner than expected

In January 2024, James Gunn, the writer and director for Peacemaker, uploaded an adorable picture of his pet dog on Threads. Under the post, a fan commented and asked for an update on the beloved show’s season two. This is when Gunn shocked the fanbase by revealing that it is ‘more than halfway’ written.

The hype didn’t stop there. A few days later during the same month, Screen Time reported that 7 out of a total of 8 episodes for season 2 of the show had been completely written. After the last episode, the entire script would probably have to undergo reviewing and editing before production can be started for the same.

However, more recently, during his appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, John Cena revealed that the filming would begin in May and could go on until Christmas. But with Gunn involved in multiple projects, the production is expected to stretch on a little longer, thus, leaving the scenario known yet uncertain. How close do you think we are to the second season of Peacemaker? Could the Instagram post be a teaser after all?
