The 16-time World champion, John Cena, is gearing up for his upcoming match against Austin Theory at WrestleMania 39. The match became official after the latter challenged the former for a match with the WWE United States Championship on the line.

Just days before his big match at The Showcase of Immortals, The Hustle, Loyalty, and Respect Soldier sat down for an interview to reminisce about the old days as a pro wrestler in WWE. He shared some of the things from his past and mentioned how things have now changed in WWE.

John Cena speaks on how WWE treats its stars now

While speaking on Whiskey Ginger w/ Andrew Santino, The Leader of Cenation told his fans how things have changed in WWE as compared to the time when he was a full-time wrestler. He said that the Stamford-based wrestling promotion has made a lot of development in the industry and progressed a lot.

He added nowadays the pro wrestling company fairly treats its employees. Cena also mentioned the company rightly compensates them for their service and now the burden of the work is also less compared to what it was in the old days.

Cena stated, “Nowadays, the business has evolved and in great ways. I romanticize about that period a lot because it was just super fun, but guys (now) are paid better. Guys are treated better. There’s less of a work schedule.” 

‘The Champ’ also mentioned how the employees used to spend a lot of time together after their work. They used to go to some place to relax and gather some wisdom after being done with their day’s work. He confessed that in the yesteryears, the WWE superstars bonded together the like a fraternal society.”

But the 45-year-old star also admitted to having struggled to be a part of the “brotherhood”, initially.

This is not the first time the wrestler-turned-actor mentioned facing hurdles when he began his wrestling journey. he has been open about having issues with his co-stars in the initial days of his career. Once again, he confessed the same.

He stated that when he started wrestling, he tried to keep to himself. He did it because he was trying to build a connection with his audience. But this resulted in his co-workers outcasting him. Later he learned how to become a locker room guy and then a leader and has been the people’s favorite ever since.
