From being a guest appearance in the Stamford-based company to emerging as an overnight NXT sensation, Joe Hendry’s WWE assignments have moved through the mountains of episodic phases of doubts and faith so far. But what he did in the last week on WWE NXT in a sharp triple threat #1 contender match against Pete Dune and Wes Lee wiped away even the slightest bit of confusion regarding his top-notch class as a wrestler.
The Local Hero showcased tremendous agility and power throughout the showdown and came out victorious with timely help from Trick William. With this, the deal is sealed for the September 1st, NXT No Mercy. While from fans to veterans everyone is busy scratching their heads judging the potential of the WWE newbie’s strength to topple Ethan Page, a WWE analyst had his verdict stated on the bout.

Hendry has always been a wrestler of class. But the ultimate break in his career happened because of the massive WWE-TNA deal. On June 18, the talented wrestler dipped his feet into the WWE ring for the very first time as a representative of TNA in the 25-man Battle Royal. Although he couldn’t add much value to the plate on his debut night, the Prestigious One quickly rose to the helm of public attention in his later shots in the company, sparking rampant fans’ demand for his permanent WWE signing.
Looking at the reality of his TNA contract which is valid up to 2025, a full-fledged WWE run is non-feasible at this time. But as wrestling analyst Chris Van Vliet sees it, a championship run is very much feasible and destined, regardless. Explaining the future for the TNA star, he noted on the ‘Insight with Chris Van Vliet’ podcast, ”So there is a chance Sunday, September 1st, that a TNA star becomes a WWE champion when if possibly, Joe Hendry beats Ethan Page for the NXT Championship.”
“The fact that Trick Williams is the special guest referee there makes me think that he’s going to screw Ethan Page because it was Ethan Page who kind of literally fell into being the NXT champion when he won the title there from Trick Williams. So I feel like Trick being involved in that match means that Ethan Page gets screwed, which really lines up. All of this lines up to Joe Hendry winning the championship,” he added.

The post quickly went viral, catching the attention of the wrestler himself. Acknowledging the honor, the TNA star reposted with the caption, “Domino’s Believes” with two clap emojis. Although it’s not the first time the food industry showcased its support for their favorite WWE superstars, as KFC did the same for Dolph Ziggler in the past, giving a shout-out to someone who is not officially a part of WWE yet is what made it different.
