Going into the latest episode of Monday Night RAW, fans were excited about one match: the main event. Jinder Mahal was set to take on Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship just weeks ahead of the Royal Rumble. Furthermore, reports suggested that a cash-in by Damian Priest could take place. With so many factors in play, fans expected an absolute barnburner. However, the match did not deliver on the WWE Universe’s expectations and they made their thoughts known online.
When the match was announced last week on RAW, fans were divided, but as the drama around Mahal increased on social media, fans rallied behind him to make it an enthralling affair.

In the case of what the WWE Universe is claiming to be lackluster booking, fans witnessed Jinder Mahal lose. While the loss is understandable, as the WWE may not have wanted to crown a new champion this close to The Royal Rumble, the way Mahal lost enraged fans.
The match was excellent on every point. From a normal bout to a storytelling perspective, everything was spot on. Mahal came down with Veer and Sanga, who stood at ringside. Right off the bat, Rollins was on the unfavorable side. Even during the match, the two helped save Mahal from near falls.

The turning point came when Damian Priest walked out to the ring holding the Money in the Bank briefcase. Priest has tried to cash in on multiple occasions but has been unsuccessful. Seeing the numbers game and Priest lurking around the ring, fans were expecting an epic ending to the match.
The part that fans hated was the ending. Veer, seeing the opportunity, hit Rollins with the MITB briefcase, followed by Mahal hitting the Khallas. However, this combo was not able to keep the champion down, who defiantly kicked out. Rollins hit Mahal with the Curb Stomp for the pinfall victory. Fans were enraged by how strong they made the champion look at the end of the match. The near fall was something fans could not stop talking about.
“What did I just watch?” Fans bash WWE for predictable and weak booking

Many fans questioned what the point of the match was if there was no title change.

This user liked the setup for the finish but was let down by the ending itself.
Such a great finish setup but damnit. Should have put Jinder over.
Don't hinder Jinder!— ✮EWZine✮(Or maybe just X) (@TheEWZine) January 16, 2024
Some fans emphasized that the ending was predictable and that the WWE lacked guts.
This was a time they could have really showed some guts and not be so friggin predictable so frustrating sometimes

Fans were also surprised by how quickly the WWE went off the air and refused to let the moment breathe.
I'm not surprised by the finish. I'm surprised by how weak it was. Stomp, 1, 2, 3, off the air. pic.twitter.com/kLF11OPoNE

Some users were stunned by what they saw, and not in a good way.
What did I just watch? This is not a title match I wasted my sleep for this? It's 5Am here and I traded my sleep for this?
