Stone Cold Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels used to be tag team partners until Michaels walked out of WWE. This was back in 1997. It wasn’t easy for Austin to not have any anger against Michaels considering his exit ended their reign as tag team champions.

Jim Ross explained that even though Michaels exited the company after a fight with Bret Hart, Stone Cold Steve Austin was quite frustrated. Therefore, it was important for Mick Foley (Dude Love) to step in and become tag team partners with Stone Cold.

“Nobody appreciated Shawn walking out on the company. I can tell you that Austin was not happy about him walking out on Steve. So it was just tumultuous times. I’ve said this before. I may have said this on part one of this podcast regarding Mick. One of the reasons that I wanted to bring Mick into WWE is because I wanted his influence in our locker room. I wanted to get away from the controversy and the personal bulls*** and the ego and the insecurities.” H/t Grilling JR

Stone Cold Steve Austin and Dude Love were tag team champions for 55 days. The position had to be vacated yet again when The Texas Rattlesnake suffered a neck injury in a match at SummerSlam 1997 against Owen Hart.

Stone Cold Steve Austin revealed disliking Shawn Michaels

During one of the episodes of The Steve Austin Show, he revealed that while he liked the way Michaels conducted himself inside the ring, he did not like The Heartbreak Kid as a person.

“He was that damn good. But as a person, I didn’t like him. Quite frankly, I didn’t like him at all.” H/t Republic World

The last time Stone Cold Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels were in the ring together was at WrestleMania 32 alongside Mick Foley.

They appeared to confront the League of Nations. During this, Stone Cold delivered a stunner to King Barrett and Rusev. On the other hand, when The New Day asked the trio to dance with them, The Texas Rattlesnake attacked Xavier Woods, as well.

Apart from this, Shawn Michaels and Stone Cold faced each other at WrestleMania 14 in a match. The Texas Rattlesnake defeated The Heartbreak Kid to secure the WWE Championship.
