Vince McMahon’s sudden retirement from WWE shook up the wrestling world. It led to a slew of changes in WWE programming and management. Moreover, it even impacted the career of many individuals within the company. McMahon’s departure also heavily affected John Laurinaitis, his close aide. Laurinaitis had been with the WWE since 2001 before the promotion let him go earlier this year. One of the reasons for his firing was reported to be his role in the misconduct allegations. Recently, a WWE icon shared his views on Laurinaitis and didn’t have kind words for the former head of talent relations.

In the aftermath of Vince McMahon’s retirement, WWE launched an investigation into his alleged misconduct which also put John Laurinaitis into the frame. This led to WWE firing Laurinaitis in August this year for his alleged role in the misconduct. Johnny Ace had been with WWE since 2001 and held various roles throughout the company. He also had a run as an on-screen authority figure for a few years.

Many saw Laurinaitis as a close aide to Vince McMahon and their relationship went beyond their professional roles. Speaking on his Grilling JR podcast earlier this month, Jim Ross made his views clear on Laurinaitis. The WWE icon said Laurinaitis deserved the misery that befell him.
JR said, “His a** is without a job and he deserves the Goddamn misery that he’s living, that I perceive that he’s living.” It is pertinent to note that Laurinaitis replaced JR in the Talent Relations role in 2001. During a more recent episode of his podcast, Ross defended his scathing opinion of Laurinaitis suggesting he felt betrayed him.

An unapologetic Ross said, “Oh, I meant it. I just don’t believe that’s how you repay somebody for their kindness. Here’s a guy that was out of a job, [and] had a young family. I hired him as my number two guy in my department, and how it ended up was typical chickensh*t pro wrestling.”

It seems Johnny Ace rubbed the Good Ol’ JR in the wrong way during his tenure with WWE. Ross didn’t divulge the details of what exactly is the reason for his harsh comments on Laurinaitis. But it looks like the two won’t be exchanging holiday gifts anytime soon.
