In what seemed to be an attempt at fostering a new catchphrase, Jey Uso started ‘yeeting’ recently during the press conference for WWE Fastlane. Since that hilariously iconic moment, Uso has been associating a lot with the word ‘yeet’. However, his favorite word was met with controversy recently. WWE tried to avoid lawsuits by blurring out Uso’s ‘yeets’ wherever possible. The sole reason behind this was a trademark issue. Now, Uso has recently acknowledged the same.

Recently, the Samoan wrestler shed light on what he thinks about the legal issue his catchphrase is caught up in. Turns out, Uso is not happy about how things are going. Nevertheless, he is still hopeful.

An indie wrestler, Kasey Huffman, filed a ‘trademark’ for ‘yeet’ in 2021. Although the word is pretty common, this leaves room for the possibility of legal issues arising from this topic. So, at the moment, WWE has been trying to distance itself from the word and has been encouraging Uso to do the same.

In a recent interview with Daily Mail UK, the “Main Event” star was asked about his thoughts on the legal situation surrounding his favorite word. Being himself, Uso hilariously mentioned the word yet again. “Yeah man, they trying to shut my yeet down. We’ll get past that, though. I’m still going to be out there yeeting,” said the former Bloodline member.

Not only through his words, but Uso’s repetition of ‘yeet’ also suggests that he is confident he will get his right to say the word back.

After the news about Huffman’s trademark broke through, some sources confirmed that the trademark that he signed had already expired effective October 2022. So, as of now, the legal threat to Jey Uso seems to be a little less active. However, we cannot ignore the fact that he still has to be careful. Despite everything, he still celebrated the expiry of the trademark by tweeting on X.
