Now, in the history of pro-wrestling, there have been several legendary wrestlers who lost their lives because of painkillers or some other cocktail. Similarly, back in the 2010s former WWE champion, Jeff Hardy was battling with his addictions as well.
The Charismatic Enigma recently appeared on Stone Cold Steve Austin’s ‘Broken Skull Sessions’ podcast where he talked about the time when he was battling his demons and also talked about his match with Sting at Victory Road pay-per-view in 2011 which is the worst memory of the former champ.

Jeff Hardy still thinks about that terrible memory
In Austin’s latest podcast, Hardy revealed that he was taking prescribed painkillers called Soma, which is a prescription pain medication with a notorious history within the pro wrestling industry.
“[Soma] hadn’t become a controlled substance yet. So I was still taking the Somas. But I do remember talking to Sting before I got too altered to even…walk out there, hardly. “ [h/t: WrestlingInc]
“We were gonna do this spot with his finish – the [Scorpion Death Drop] – but my head was gonna be in a chair. And I remember being scared of that. Oh, I might really hurt my neck doing that but it’s gonna be awesome if I don’t. So yeah, I just took too much.”
Once Hardy was in the ring, Sting looked disgusted and was furious with Hardy’s casual behavior. TNA Executive Producer, Eric Bischoff, rushed out and started cutting a promo which was improvised on the fly because of Hardy’s intoxication.

Somehow Bischoff talked with the referee and Sting and ordered Hardy to lie down as soon as the bell rang.
“By the time it was time for me to go out there, they [had to find me], [Former TNA Executive Producer] Eric Bischoff came out there. They had to shut it down. He had to take it home real quick, and that was the right thing. They had to do it.” recalled Hardy.
