Is Cody Rhodes the Spider-Man of WWE, always fighting against the odds and coming out on top?

Cody Rhodes will defend the WWE Undisputed title on Saturday, August 31 at Bash in Berlin. Rhodes and general manager Nick Aldis nominated Kevin Owens as the next title challenger during Friday’s SmackDown after Owens came to Rhodes’ aid in an angle against Solo Sikoa‘s The Bloodline on the show.

Owens was reluctant to accept the title fight as he insisted he hadn’t earned it. But the Universal Champion and Aldis insisted that Owens get the chance. Aldis finally made the title match official in a behind-the-scenes segment with the challenger and the champion. The American Nightmare defending the WWE Undisputed Championship against Owens is the second official match for Bash in Berlin, scheduled for Saturday, August 31.

However, it seems like the pro wrestling community is not satisfied with the booking as it pits two baby faces against each other. A sentiment that was echoed by Bully Ray. But what if we tell you that the WWE wants to book a feud between the two friends? Well, according to a post on X, the user drew a parallel between Rhodes and his superhero counterpart. While many believe that The American Nightmare is booked like Superman, in actuality, he is a lot similar to Spiderman instead. A superhero who often finds his loved ones in jeopardy because of his heroic deeds.

The user wrote, “Many people think he’s being booked to look like Superman but what if I told you It seems as if WWE is making Cody a tragic hero similar to that of Marvels Spider-Man. Despite trying to be the good guy and hero he constantly finds himself putting his loved ones in harms way and losing friends as well”

Well, it surely looks like it. Take all three Spiderman franchises as an example. In the original Raimi verse, Peter loses Harry. In The Amazing Spiderman, Peter loses Gwen Stacy. While in the latest Spiderman, Peter loses MJ and his friend. Now in WWE, it seems like Rhodes will be losing Kevin Owens as his friend as the latest edition of SmackDown hinted at a heel turn for KO. According to many, Randy Orton too might turn his back on Rhodes in the future. So with everyone gone, it seems like Rhodes will have to bring back his trusted manager, Arn Anderson again. Just like the legendary manager came back at SummerSlam. But how did that happen?

Arn Anderson reveals details about his appearance at SummerSlam 2024

What’s your perspective on:

Is Cody Rhodes the Spider-Man of WWE, always fighting against the odds and coming out on top?

Have an interesting take?

Arn Anderson surprised everyone by appearing at SummerSlam 2024 by hugging Cody Rhodes when ‘The American Nightmare’ was about to make his entrance to face Solo Sikoa. Anderson had finished his contract with AEW a few months earlier and it was a special meeting with Rhodes.

During an episode of his podcast called ARN, Anderson talked about how his appearance at SummerSlam came about and highlighted the pleasant atmosphere that ensued behind the scenes. He said, “Coincidence-wise, I was going to be in Cleveland anyway, and I was doing a signing for WrestleCon. Cody, bless his heart, I will get a random text from him months after I haven’t talked to him and it’ll be at three in the morning. And it’s almost like it’s in code. It was like, ‘We had a conversation, Triple H and myself. Wonder what we could do to maybe have you come to one of the shows.’ According to his text, Triple H said that ‘maybe some of the young guys and ladies have met [Arn]. So maybe it would be a nice treat.”

Anderson revealed wasn’t going to be the only legend there. He said, “It wasn’t like I was going to be the only legend there. He said, ‘What do you think?’ I said, ‘I’d always be interested in saying hello to you and some type of cameo.’ So he put me in touch with Benjamin Brown. He’s the one that takes care of some of the lost treasures on that show. Got a hold of me, ‘Yes, would love to have you. Fly you in. Bring a guest.”

It is unknown if WWE or Arn Anderson plans to continue working together from now on or if it is an isolated appearance. Be that as it may, there is no doubt that it was something really important for Anderson and Cody Rhodes. But fans surely would be hoping that the legendary manager comes to manage Rhodes once he loses his friends. What do you think? Is The American Nightmare like Spiderman according to you?
