WWE Hall of Famer Who Rejected Romantic Advances From Dwayne Johnson, Reveals How She Chose Her Passion Over Money

WWE legend Lisa Moretti, better known as Ivory, found her inner calling after retiring from wrestling. Ivory, to this day, is one of the most revered female wrestlers who helped revolutionize women’s wrestling. Before she joined WWE in 1999, Ivory wrestled for a small wrestling promotion dedicated to women. However, after spending years taking bumps, Ivory realized what her real vocation should be. 

The three-time WWE Women’s Champion made her surprise return to WWE in 2022 during the women’s Royal Rumble match. Ivory felt the adulation from the fans after returning to the ring after years. But her return was just a one-off. Ivory rescues cute animals for a living. 

WWE Hall of Famer Ivory found love in grooming and rescuing dogs after wrestling

During an interview with WWE, the 61-year-old wrestling legend explained how she felt that working with animals was her true goal in life. According to her, Hurricane Katrina in 2005 instigated her to rescue animals. Ivory’s newfound love grew and materialized into a business called “Downtown Dog”. In addition, Ivory has a daycare for dogs named “The Bow Wow Bus”. 

Ivory’s initiative not only goes to show that she is a wonderful human being at heart but also that she was not afraid to choose her passion over money. Make no mistake, Ivory loves wrestling too. But her love for dogs trumps all. Expressing her love for her business, she stated, “I love my life. I am very, very, very lucky to have found a new existence that really gets me going. I love the animals. They’re so positive and happy every day and have a really great spin on how to live their lives, and there’s a lot to learn from them.”

Let’s not forget, the wrestling veteran has a ton of experience between the ropes. At one point, Ivory was also the trainer for WWE’s Tough Enough. Last year, after Ivory made her surprise return in the women’s Royal Rumble match, she had some advice for the women’s division.  

Interestingly, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson once had eyes for Ivory while he was still married to Dany Garcia.

The Rock may be a real charmer when it comes to women but Ivory once gave him the cold shoulder. Sometime between 1999 to 2004, The Rock and Ivory shared the locker room. During this time, Dwayne Johnson tried making romantic advances to Ivory, who was 10 years older. While speaking on the Shoot interview, Ivory explained how Dwayne Johnson approached her. 

She said, “Rock was asking me one day, you know, when I first got there. He was like, ‘so Ivory, you got a boyfriend?’ I was like ‘yeah.’ I was like, ‘You idiot! [smacks her head].’ But you know that’s what happens when you’re just a little older, you’re like, ‘yeah, I have a boyfriend at home.’ Didn’t last. But, you know, and then comes Trish Stratus, you know, it’s like ‘dang, that could have been me!’ Isn’t that horrible?”

In hindsight, Ivory wishes she hadn’t snubbed the Great One. At the time, Johnson was married to Dany Garcia. The couple parted ways officially in 2008. Garcia and Johnson have one child out of their wedlock, who is also a WWE superstar, wrestling under the ring name Ava Raine, on NXT.
