After the grand release of the 10th installment of the Fast and Furious franchise, Fast X, John Cena came up with an exciting update for all the DC fans, especially the Peacemaker fans. Cena, being the helm of the series of the fan-favorite series, garnered a lot of love for his role. It was such a blockbuster that fans desperately hoped for a second season. But the absence of the series from the already declared reboot of the DCU list left them in doubt. Cena’s recent revelation finally let fans breathe a collective sigh of relief.

The star gave a hopeful remark about Peacemaker 2 without giving any surety as of now. That being said, Cena seems pretty sure regarding DC’s promising future with or without a Peacemaker season 2.

After months of searching,  Warner Bros. finally found their apt leaders in filmmakers James Gunn and Peter Safran. The franchise chose them considering their decades of experience in filmmaking serve as an asset to the new DC Universe.

One of the top stars of the franchise, John Cena, feels the same. He fully believes DC’s future is in safe hands.

During a recent appearance in the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the Peacemaker star was asked about the possibility of a Peacemaker 2. The actor replied he ”hopes so”.

Then he quickly started to sing the praise of the new leaders of the company. Cena noted, “I hope so. What I will say is I’m very excited about the new leadership at DC because I love James Gunn as a human being and Peter Safran as well. I have the utmost respect for them as professionals. I’ve never seen people so prepared and who take it so serious and have so much passion for it and aren’t afraid to be themselves.”

However, The Rock’s fans might not be as pleased with them as Cena as the two new directors’ decision abruptly cost The Rock’s future alliance with the franchise.

James Gunn and Peter Safran’s creative takeover proved no good for The Rock’s DC Universe future

One of his recent setbacks for Dwayne Johnson was the unexpected end of his alliance with the DC Universe. DJ had some master plans regarding his future moves in the franchise, but everything suddenly got dashed due to the major change in creative leadership.

DJ played the anti-hero Black Adam in 2022. Johnson started to announce that it will bring a number of projects regarding Black Adam’s relationship with the other DCEU characters. But then James Gunn and Peter Safran entered the scene. Considering the Black Adam’s loathed box office status, the new creative heads decided not to develop any other sequel of it, something that brought a hiccup for The Rock.

Although Gunn mentioned that The Rock has still ways to return to the franchise as there are changes to include Black Adam in future projects. But given the bulk of reboots projects already on the list, currently, it seems there is no hope left for Johnson to be back to the franchise.
