Professional wrestling is a risky sport and takes a huge toll on the body of wrestlers. WWE Hall of Famer Edge felt that huge toll on his body for nine years before making a WWE return at Royal Rumble 2020. However, not only he himself and the fans but even the doctors were shocked over his progress as Edge almost lost his mobility after surgery.

83-year-old neurosurgeon Dr. Joseph Maroon was the one who had suggested Edge retire due to his neck injury in 2011. Surprisingly, the WWE legend shared the same doctor is still “dumbfounded” by his recovery.

Recently, The Rated R Superstar appeared on Impaulsive podcast with Logan Paul and Mike Miljak. The Maverick and his co-host asked Edge about his neck injury. Moreover, Paul was also shocked to know that Dr. Maroon was the one who retired and unretired the WWE legend and what is his reaction now.

The WWE Hall of Famer said, “We have had some pretty incredible discussions and I think he is as dumbfounded as me sometimes.” Paul jokingly added, “I thought he’d be inclined to be like, ‘No, no I’ve medically retired you and I know how bad it is”

Moreover, Edge assumed the reason, “Well, I think I’m also on a different schedule now. I’m not trying to maintain like 220 (matches) a year (schedule) is not feasible (and) not possible. And nobody needs to see me 220 times a year.”

Edge not only just returned to WWE, but also has had some of the top-notch matches. He also won the 2021 men’s Royal Rumble and main evented WrestleMania 37 too.

While talking to ‘The Maverick’, Edge shed light on how he was dedicated to recovering after his second surgery. He hit the gym to train his neck and wasn’t alone at the place that had a similar situation.

The Rated R Superstar recalled, “I was just in the gym with two other dudes who had really bad neck injuries and surgeries. We were in there and we were going. It’s a different mindset”
