A few months ago, WWE started one of the most appreciated and over storylines of all time. After WWE put Sami Zayn together with The Bloodline, fans saw it coming how they would turn their back on Zayn, eventually. The saga excited the fans and had many twists and turns until Zayn finally chose a side and stood up to Roman Reigns at Royal Rumble.

Zayn became one of the hottest subjects in pro wrestling and rose up the charts. Recently during a podcast with Mark Andrews, he spoke about he expected himself to be in the main event of WrestleMania 39 against Roman Reigns until Cody Rhodes took his spot.

The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes returned at Royal Rumble to win the men’s match and earn the main-event spot at ‘Mania. However, despite Rhodes’s main-eventing Night 2 of the event, Zayn was handed the Night 1 main event of WrestleMania 39.

During the podcast, Zayn showed no regrets about Rhodes taking his presumed spot but instead claimed that they are all there to lift and help each other up. The road to WrestleMania completely changed Zayn’s career, and he alongside Kevin Owens defeated The Usos at ‘Mania 39.

What did Sami Zayn claim about Cody Rhodes taking away his WrestleMania 39 spot against Roman Reigns?

Despite being one of the most over superstars in the WWE right now, Zayn did not receive the world title shot against Reigns at ‘Mania. However, he made the best out of what he was given and gave the fans one of the best matches of the night.

Still, with the buildup and tensions in The Bloodline, many fans thought it would make sense for Zayn to challenge Reigns and even dethrone him at WrestleMania. And it seems the man himself thought the same.

Speaking to Mark Andrews he claimed how Rhodes took away the best story in WWE, despite him being sure of it occurring. He said, “So there was a time period going from Survivor Series building into the Rumble, and especially right before the Rumble, and right after the Rumble, where I was 100 percent thought it could go to me and Roman at ‘Mania, and it would be the best story. “

Zayn did get to wrestle Reigns for the titles in his hometown of Montreal at the Elimination Chamber PLE but was unable to beat the Tribal Chief.

However, he also did not blame anything on anyone. And, instead happily claimed that everyone was there to help each other out. Zayn also expressed his happiness for Rhodes after he was able to main-event WrestleMania against Roman Reigns. He claimed that Rhodes returning meant a change in the plans. Zayn said, ” It’s very hard to have a plan and stick with it.”

He said, “Cody is a huge star, and the tide was just going up for everybody. And I think that’s what made that eight-month, nine-month period exciting. So, it was fun to watch the whole tide rise for everybody involved.”

Cody Rhodes is scheduled to be in a match against Brock Lesnar at Night of the Champions, whereas Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens would be defending their tag titles against Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa in Saudi Arabia on May 27.
