The Undertaker remains one of WWE’s iconic characters. Mark Calaway portrayed the character to perfection for many years inside the ring, while he protected his gimmick outside the ring with equal dedication as well.
It was very rare for The Undertaker to break kayfabe outside WWE while appearing in public. One of those occasions where ‘The Phenom’ interacted with people and let his veil down was during WWE’s participation for Make-A-Wish Foundation.

WWE has done some incredible work over the years when it comes to granting wishes through this platform.

Bruce Prichard talked about The Undertaker not appearing in commercials during his time in the WWE.
On his ‘Something To Wrestle With Bruce Prichard’ podcast, the former WWE manager revealed Taker’s appearances for Make-A-Wish and why it was weird.
He explained, “I think the weirdest thing with Undertaker was we do a lot with make-a-wish. And when a make-a-wish kid would have their last wish, I’d like to meet the undertaker. Taker was one of those guys that took that on so well because man, that’s weird and that’s tough. But to this child, the one thing that they want to do. They have a deadly disease they want to meet the Undertaker.”

Prichard also added that although these interactions were a bittersweet experience, the former WWE Champion was good at handling it.
He added, “When you say it out loud, it’s like oh what the f**k. But Taker would walk in and own it. He was just so f*****g good with these kids, that made him feel special, and there was nothing weird about it. But they wanted to take pictures like with the urn. It’s so sad and so sweet all at the same time. It’s weird because they’re characters. Maybe the child doesn’t even understand the whole thing, but yeah, it was weird.”
It must have been a bit weird to see the man who often portrayed a character related to death and darkness, meeting and interacting with kids from Make-A-Wish. But as always, the professionalism of Calaway made it a special moment for those kids.
