A day after WrestleMania 39, WWE announced it has been sold to Endeavor. The new parent company of WWE has previously purchased UFC and will merge both promotions. Upon the finalization of the same, there will surely be many changes and a WWE legend shared concerns if he was in the company at present time.

Legendary WWE commentator Jim Ross recently shared his views on the WWE-UFC merger under Endeavor. He quickly said he would’ve been concerned about his spot in WWE after the merger.

In the recent episode of the Grilling JR. podcast, the current AEW commentator talked about the changes in WWE that might happen soon. Good ol’ JR, also added he would have been concerned if he was in WWE now.

The 71-year-old said, “If I wasn’t confident that my spot was secure and my work had not been good, and I had not become a high-maintenance pain in the a**, then yeah, I would be concerned. I do think there will be some layoffs.”

The WWE Hall of Famer added, “I just think it’s inevitable with this sort of transaction, where they go through and do a clean sweep of where the extra costs are so they can contribute more to their new bottom line.”

Ross was an integral part of WWE’s announcing team for a long time from 1993 to 2013. He left the company for some time and returned in 2017 to call the main event of WrestleMania 33 between The Undertaker and Roman Reigns.

Nevertheless, he left Vince McMahon’s company once again in 2019 and quickly joined AEW and has been there since then. However, as he was a major part of WWE management, he understands there will be several layoffs and is on board with it.

JR says layoffs are not a bad thing

While addressing the changes that will happen in the company, Ross shared he layoffs will happen. Surprisingly, he calls it not a bad thing as the company will go under massive restructuring soon.

Ross said, “So we’ll see but you could almost count on some people not getting contracts renewed, are an are failing to get the number they want and renegotiation. To me, it’s inevitable.”

The former WWE commentator added, “And it’s not a bad thing. It’s just that’s just the nature of the business. I can’t think of any merger where there weren’t layoffs involved in a big merger like this and this is a big merger.”
