WWE is witnessing an upheaval in its structure ever since Vince McMahon made his surprise return to the company. His daughter and former co-CEO Stephanie McMahon announced her departure from the promotion. And now former 10-time WWE tag team champion D-Von Dudley has confirmed his exit from WWE. D-Von had been working as a coach down at WWE’s developmental brand NXT since June 2022. The legendary tag team wrestler, who formed the team The Dudley Boyz with Bubba Ray Dudley had worked in various capacities with the sports entertainment giant. His release from the company is another shocker after the recent exits of Stephanie McMahon and long-time Vice President of Communications, Adam Hopkins.

Possible reason for D-Von Dudley’s sudden WWE exit

After his in-ring retirement, D-Von worked as a backstage producer and agent for WWE from 2016. Last year, he moved to NXT as a coach and had been working there since. But now confirmed his association with WWE has come to an end via a series of tweets.

Notably, his departure comes after WWE reportedly didn’t allow D-Von to work on an independent show in Philadelphia last month. The show featured his former tag team partner Bubba Ray in a hardcore death match against Matt Cardona, aka Zack Ryder. D-Von was scheduled to be in the corner of Bubba.

This brings an end to D-Von’s long association with WWE for the time being. As part of Dudley Boyz, he dominated the tag team scene in the Attitude Era. Apart from being 10-times WWE tag team champions, Dudley Boyz also won the tag team titles in ECW, NWA, NJPW, and Impact Wrestling.

Impact Wrestling inducted them into their Hall of Fame in 2014, which was followed by a WWE Hall of Fame induction in 2018. With Bubba Ray currently wrestling in Impact Wrestling, fans will be eager to see if D-Von join him and reform the legendary tag team one more time.
