‘Family’ is the basis of several WWE storylines. However, WWE personalities themselves deal with these everyday family problems in their personal lives. We can take Shane McMahon’s life as a small example. Not only was his personal life affected by his family’s internal matters, but it also affected his professional potential. Jim Ross believes while McMahon could’ve reached different heights in his career, Vince McMahon stopped him.

The father-son duo dynamic doesn’t appear to be in trouble as far as the public eye is concerned. However, Ross explained that Shane has always worked hard to impress his father, but Vince has never put faith in his son.

An important question arose when Jim Ross was conversing about Shane McMahon on his podcast. When asked about his views on Shane McMahon, the WWE Hall of Famer had positive views in terms of talent. However, he believes that Shane and Vince probably don’t share a good professional and personal bond.

Ross explained in the podcast that Shane has always tried to “diligently” impress and please his father. He hasn’t seen the level of diligence in anyone else when it comes to impressing one’s parents. “But for a guy pleasing his old man, especially when it’s an alpha male like Vince McMahon, it’s a tall order,” said the Hall of Famer. Despite the never-ending efforts to impress Vince McMahon, Shane was never able to convince his father to have faith in him.

Jim Ross also added, “Vince seemingly put more faith in Stephanie’s management abilities than he did Shane’s.” As a result, the former CEO of WWE gave his daughter, Stephanie McMahon, an important position at the management level. All of these reasons could have piled up to make Shane push himself out of the promotion. However, he has seemingly put the differences aside in 2023.
