Goldberg wrestled his last match in WWE in February 2022. Since then, fans have not seen him inside the squared circle. He wanted a retirement match in WWE but unfortunately didn’t get one. It is unknown if he will be back for another match in the promotion as he is no longer under contract.

That said, a released superstar has opened up about his interest in squaring off against the WWE Hall of Famer. The said superstar has a lot of history with Goldberg as the two were involved in a very controversial real-life feud a few years ago. Matt Riddle wants to wrestle Goldberg in AEW

During a recent live stream of Signed by Superstar, Matt Riddle stated that he would love to have a match with Goldberg. He said, “I personally would love to work with William. I think William Goldberg will be a great match. I think I could get something out of him that people haven’t seen in years and it’d be great for business.”

He also stated that out of all other promotions, wrestling Goldberg seems very likely to happen in AEW. There are a couple of places we could do that. I would imagine maybe in AEW, maybe in TNA, maybe in New Japan. But if it’s going to happen, it would probably be AEW.”

The notorious feud began a few years ago after Riddle began talking shots at Goldberg on X. He criticized the WWE legend’s wrestling ability online. The latter took offense and blocked him on social media. But that didn’t stop him from targeting him and he continued to bash the former WCW Champion.

Riddle even slammed Goldberg for his poor performance against The Undertaker at the Super ShowDown event in June 2019 in Saudi Arabia. When the two eventually met backstage at SummerSlam 2019, Goldberg didn’t take it nicely when he called him his “bro.”

Since then, the two have talked about burning the bridges and moving on from their rivalry.
