Since arriving in the WWE, Matt Riddle has made this clear that he has little to no interest in fighting his peers. Instead, he has constantly targeted established WWE Superstars of the yesteryear.

While the superstars in the company are pawns to WWE creative, the original bro believes in some fantasy booking himself. You rarely see an NXT superstar insulting giants like Goldberg and Brock Lesnar. Now, he has found another WWE legend whom he wants to obliterate in the squared circle.

Speaking to Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT, the King of bros expressed a wish to fight Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle. There’s no doubt that it would be an angle worth millions of bucks. However, Riddle already had a plan in mind to kickstart the rivalry.

“The money is in beating up Kurt Angle”- Matt Riddle on beating up WWE Hall of Famer

Recently, Matt Riddle was involved in a steel cage match against Timothy Thatcher in the main event of NXT. Kurt Angle was the special guest referee.

Riddle would go on to lose this match. Days later, Kurt Angle introduced him as the latest addition to the Smackdown roster. According to Riddle, there was a lot that could have been done with Angle as the special guest referee.

If you’ve watched WWE over the years, you know that special guest referees rarely call the match down the middle with fairness. Their sole purpose is to add intrigue and eventually get into a scuffle with one or if you are Stone Cold Steve Austin, both the superstars. As per Riddle, he should’ve been allowed to beat up Angle.

“You know what crossed my mind originally [with Kurt Angle]? There’s the management thing, but then like in my head – and maybe this is just greedy me – in my head, when I see Kurt Angle, even if I like him and I’m friendly with him, I know the money is in beating up Kurt Angle.

“I was really hoping he was going to cost me the cage match and then the Bro was going to snap and beat up Kurt Angle! Some deadlift Germans to an Olympic gold medalist from the Stallion? You telling me everybody at home wouldn’t be like ‘no he didn’t just dump him on his head!’ – because that’s what I do! It would have been crazy.”

Kurt Angle offered managerial role

Reports said that Angle had been offered the role of a manager with Matt Riddle on Smackdown. However, Kurt turned it down as he had other plans.

He apparently thought that this could lead to a match between the two down the line. As much as we miss the in-ring technician from the 2000’s, the truth is that Angle just isn’t the same performer now. He would’ve been offered a spot similar to one which he got against Drew McIntyre.

As much as it helped McIntyre in solidifying his monster heel persona, it tarnished Angle’s legacy when he tapped out to his own ankle lock. Needless to say, Kurt won’t let Vince McMahon do that to him again. The last thing we want at this point is to see Kurt Angle being turned into enhancement talent.
