Sami Zayn worked a few jobs before making it big into professional wrestling. The former ‘Honorary Uce’ made a name on independents before making his debut in WWE, starting with NXT. However, recently the 38-year-old WWE superstar shared getting a first-ever taste of the corporate world from where he got fired.

The current one-half Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champion recalled how that company let him go quickly. This was because of him not adhering to a basic rule.

Zayn recently appeared on the Whiskey Ginger podcast with host Andrew Santino. Zayn shared he worked two jobs at the beginning of his wrestling career to make a living. The first was at the grocery store and the second being at Toys ”R” Us. However, his second job gave him a taste of the corporate world in terms of punctuality.

The 38-year-old added, “I once worked as a seasonal worker for Toys or Us…You know for Christmas they get crazy. I got hired for like a month. They let me go fast. It was an interesting world because, so as Arab working for Greeks, I didn’t really have any set time when I was supposed to come in. It was like nine but I’d show up at around 10:30 AM. I worked Saturday, and Sunday, like it wasn’t very clear what the parameters were.”

He added, “It was awesome like it was a perfect fit. At Toys R Us, it was like a kind of my taste of like working for French-Quebecers, Canadians, who have a certain corporate structure like nine means nine. I’d show up at 9:05 AM thinking I’m on time, they’re like, ‘What are you doing?’ I’m early bro. I got pretty fast on that one.”

Surely, it might have been a roller coaster ride for a young Zayn to settle at the place after working at the grocery store. Eventually, as days passed by things worked out for him and he became a top wrestling star.

The former three-time Intercontinental Champion also revealed a massive trait he followed back then. To keep and track a record of where he wrestled and how much money he made from a match, Zayn maintained a personal account book.

Surprisingly, this trait of maintaining a book made him realize that professional wrestling can be a full-time career for him. He shared with Santino how he calculated making $20,000 in 2008. Moreover, the amount doubled the next year and kept on increasing.
