In a world where many WWE stars had switched to AEW, Cody Rhodes did the unexpected by leaping back to Vince McMahon’s company. Numerous theories circulated. Some attribute it to financial gain or a desire to fulfill his father’s dream by capturing the WWE Championship.

In a recent podcast interview, Rhodes explained that the decision wasn’t driven by money. “Looking at all the offers, AEW was paying me wonderfully, and they had a wonderful offer as well. It just wasn’t about the money; it was about something else,” he said.

However, in a recent podcast interview, Cody laid it all bare, revealing the true intention behind his WWE return. “I felt like it was closure on my first run there,” he candidly admitted, shunning any notions of it being a business pitch or an offer. “I wanted him to know how much I learned from my time there. How much I stole from him, why I fought ferociously against him when I was on the opposition.”

He emphasized the importance of having closure with Vince, stating, “I would have regretted it if I had never really gotten closure with him.” It was all about wrapping up unfinished business with Vince McMahon, a moment he felt compelled to have.

Since his return, Cody Rhodes has been a prominent figure in WWE’s main event scene. Despite falling short of capturing the WWE Championship, he remains one of the company’s top stars. Now, he sets his sights on a big match at SummerSlam against none other than Brock Lesnar.
