One of the best moments of the PG era of WWE was the comeback of Dwayne Johnson after his transformation into the biggest actor in the world. Years ago, he disliked Hulk Hogan for becoming Hollywood Hogan because of his movies. But he too took the same path.

Looking back at it now, it was one of the best things for the WWE as a whole. Getting one of the best stars in the world to the main event of WrestleMania was amazing for sales and fans.

However, for years, CM Punk had been looking forward to the main event of WrestleMania. But last year, despite him being champion, John Cena and The Rock were given the stage, and the same was going to repeat the following year. In response to this, WWE gave Punk a chance to be a part of one of the best Undertaker matches.

While everyone, including the fans and CM Punk, hated ‘The Rock’ taking away his title, in hindsight, it all turned out to be amazing. This is exactly what one of the greatest commentators of the wrestling industry thinks as well.

About the time when CM Punk was Jim Ross on his popular podcast, Grilling JR said, “I didn’t hear any issues about The Rock working with him. Rock wanted to work with him because Punk was red hot. If you’re gonna get a win, you want to beat somebody.”

“And for Rock to beat Punk was to show that The Great One was beating somebody. It was a perfect booking in that respect… that’s why I question the validity of these blanket statements that the talents didn’t like Punk.

CM Punk was a big reason that people tuned into wrestling and WWE during his long reign. His reign, which started with the 5-star match with John Cena at Money in the Bank, was an absolute delight. It was the time when WWE had run out of ideas and inventive ways to make Cena pop out, and making Punk their champion made all the sense.

He sold out arenas and merchandise and put on a hell of a show.
