The opening of tonight’s WWE SmackDown saw Triple H come out to the ring. With Nick Aldis and Adam Pearce by his side, he addressed the events at the WrestleMania Kickoff show. During his speech, he made some not-so-subtle digs at Dwayne Johnson. Johnson stunned the WWE Universe by siding with Roman Reigns and slapping Cody Rhodes.
This could be the heel turn for Johnson that will somehow end up in a one-on-one with Rhodes down the line.

The Rock has had an exceptional 2024. Returning to the WWE on RAW Day #1 Edition, he challenged Reigns to be the Head of the Table. However, no one could’ve predicted where the journey would lead him. Similarly, he also got a seat at the TKO Holding Group’s board table.

The first thing Hunter said while in the ring was the energy the fans gave off made him feel like it was the Road to WrestleMania. He then continued with what transpired last night. Hunter said, “Some people don’t know their role. So I wanted to come out here and set the record straight.” While not mentioning any names, it can be a dig at Johnson, who showcased a carefree attitude last night despite Hunter being present on stage.

He continued, “Because here’s the thing I don’t really care where you sit.” This line was a direct dig at Roman Reigns and indirectly to Johnson, who sits on the board of TKO Holdings Group. He went ahead and announced Rhodes vs. Reigns for the main event at WrestleMania 40. He even said that he didn’t care who didn’t like the match; it was in Triple H’s power, and he booked it.

A few noteworthy points from the opening segments that eagle-eyed fans noticed. These included the fact that Triple H was introduced as his normal self, not by his real name. Since he became the Head of Creative, Hunter has been announced using his real name.

Another aspect was the fact that Hunter used the term ‘Authority’. Hardcore fans will remember Hunter’s heel run as The Authority. This could see a return but in a babyface manner with Johnson as the heel. The two could have a match at this year’s Crown Jewel event, as many big stars have had matches scheduled for the PLE.
