WWE is not a place for the faint-hearted. Even though the narrative is scripted, wrestlers put their bodies on the line, while performing dangerous stunts. Where there’s a possibility of sustaining a painful injury, that could be irreparable. Recently, WWE veteran opened up about a severe injury involving a guitar stunt that Vince McMahon came up with.
Vince McMahon had a bad idea, which caused a lot of trouble for Jake Roberts
During a recent interview with DJ Vlad, Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts shed some light on the worst injury of his life. Back in 1987, the WWE Hall of Famer took a guitar shot from Honky Tonk Man. Apparently, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon came up with this idea. However, it didn’t go according to plan.

The Snake described the guitar and said “They didn’t get a prop guitar, they got a real guitar. The damn thing was half an inch thick.” He added “And when he hit me, it blew out C6 and C7, which caused me a lot of problems. ”
Roberts took the blow on his neck, which is an extremely sensitive region in the human body. Moreover, his C6 and C7 vertebrae were destroyed due to the hit. However, the Snake kept this information for many years and neglected proper medical attention by taking pills to combat the pain instead.
‘The Snake’ delayed getting surgery, to extend his wrestling career
After sustaining this serious injury on his neck region, Jake Roberts suffered damage to his body. However, ‘The Snake’ avoided getting surgery, to continue his wrestling career. The WWE Hall of Famer was afraid that if he got tested, he would be forced to leave the company.

During the same interview, Roberts said “I was afraid they were going to tell me I couldn’t wrestle anymore.” He added, “So I wrestled for two years with that injury and that’s when I started taking a lot of pills man to combat the pain.”
Therefore, the wrestler extended his career while taking painkillers and neglecting medical surgery. However, Roberts was proud of his career in WWE and doesn’t regret extending his stay as Vince McMahon’s employee.
