We’re officially on the Road to WrestleMania and will make a pit stop at the 2021 Elimination Chamber in just a few hours. All champions heading into WrestleMania are riding high on momentum, except one – the Raw Women’s Champion, Asuka. ‘The Empress of Tomorrow’ has been lost in the shuffle. Today, we try to find out why.
Is Asuka losing herself in the shuffle?
‘The Empress of Tomorrow’ was one pillar who held the Raw Women’s division during the pandemic-era. She feuded with the likes of Nia Jax, Bayley, and Sasha Banks in this pandemic-era in pretty entertaining feuds. But things changed as WWE moved to the ThunderDome.

Asuka regained the Raw Women’s Championship from Sasha Banks at SummerSlam, but hasn’t done anything significant since then. She defended the title against Zelina Vega at Clash of Champions, and then against Lana on Raw. Not to forget Alexa Bliss and Mickie James.
Then, out of the blue, Asuka and Lana became a team and challenged for the Women’s Tag Team Championships. Consequently, Charlotte Flair replaced an injured Lana at WWE TLC to win the Women’s Tag Team Championships with Asuka.
Sadly, the team lost the titles a month later.
The spotlight is constantly on Charlotte Flair since her return. She and Lacey Evans got into a feud, and that somehow branched to Lacey getting a title shot against Asuka at the Elimination Chamber. Those plans also went down the drain as Lacey Evans announced her pregnancy.
Basically, every champion is involved in some storyline, except Asuka. It really breaks one’s heart to see a legendary wrestler like her getting treated like some new NXT call-up on the main roster.
Does WWE give the same treatment to Sasha Banks?
2020 was the year for Sasha Banks. There is no doubt Vince McMahon has strapped a rocket behind her. She won the Women’s Tag Team titles, the Raw Women’s Championship, and even ended Bayley’s streak as the longest reigning SmackDown Women’s Champion.
The ‘Boss‘ is enjoying her reign as SmackDown Women’s Champion and was recently seen in an exciting rivalry with the new and bold Carmella. Not just that, but she is enjoying her reign even outside the WWE ring, as she recently flagged off the Daytona 500!

SmackDown regularly features Banks in important segments. She will even challenge for the Women’s Tag Team Championship with Bianca Belair this Sunday at the Elimination Chamber.
These points are enough to explain the vast difference in the way WWE treats Asuka and Sasha Banks.
Bianca Belair choosing Sasha Banks as her WrestleMania opponent is definitely a lock. It leaves Asuka without a meaningful feud, but there’s still a couple of months in hand.
