WWE is leaving no stone unturned to advertise this year’s WrestleMania event as one of the biggest events in recent history. Vince McMahon and his company have also termed the match between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar as “the greatest main event of all time.”

The reason why the company has put this match on a pedestal is that it will be a ‘title unification’ match. Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns will walk in the main event of WrestleMania 38 as champions. Roman is the current Universal champion and Brock Lesnar recently won the WWE Championship.

Now, the company is claiming that after this match, the winner will merge the Universal and WWE Championship to make it one. However, veteran journalist, Dave Meltzer, recently reported that WWE thinks that it is not “feasible” to have one championship for both Raw and SmackDown.

Speaking on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer confessed that WWE is not ready to unify the championships yet. Eventually, after speaking with various sources, Dave noted that this move will not sit right with the modern audience.

“I was told that it is not feasible in the modern environment to not have each brand, given the two networks, have a champion. So this would be a unification match and then they will – not forget about it – but there will be two champions,” confessed Meltzer.

How will WWE pull it off?

As Meltzer noted, there will be two different major champions in the company. However, the whole selling point of this year’s WrestleMania is the title unification match between Lesnar and Reigns.

Back in the day, there was only one major championship in WWE: The WWE Heavyweight Championship. It meant that there will be one major champion for SmackDown and Raw.

However, because of this one championship, other championships like the Intercontinental and United States Championship were not taken for granted. Unfortunately, with the two championships in WWE right now, all the other championships are not treated like they used to be.

However, for now, WWE has a big task up to its sleeves. If they are not ready to have one champion, then they should figure out a way to get out of this mess.
