Vince McMahon was the top guy in WWE for almost five decades. From handling the nitty-gritty of the promotions business to taking care of the creative aspects. McMahon would be in charge of everything for a long time. He was credited for adapting to the times, even as many rival promotions crumbled away. However, this would all change earlier this year when reports of McMahon’s alleged misconduct started doing rounds.
The former chairperson stood firm for a while but had to give in to the demands of him resigning from all his roles with the WWE.

His daughter Stephanie McMahon took up the role of chairperson. She was also named the co-CEO of the company with Nick Khan. Triple H also returned as the Chief Content Officer for the promotion. Signifying a change in regime for the WWE.
The WWE would launch an internal investigation into the allegations against McMahon. A special committee was formed to look into the matter. And the WWE in a security filing earlier this month confirmed that the investigation had concluded.
Is a return on the cards for McMahon?
WWE said in the filing, “The Special Committee investigation is now complete and the Special Committee has been disbanded. Management is working with the Board of Directors to implement the recommendations of the Special Committee related to the investigation.” Adding further, “Mr. McMahon can effectively exercise control over our affairs.”
It was this last part of the statement that led people to believe that a return was on the cards for the former chairperson. Fightful.com in a recent report quoted a WWE spokesperson on the matter. The source was reported to have said, “Vince McMahon was “done, done,” and would not be returning to the roles that were taken over by Triple H and several others”.
On the question of why a return for McMahon wouldn’t be possible, another source from the promotion was quoted. “Beyond that, another WWE higher-up said that the morale in WWE over the last few months has been the highest they’ve seen it in over a decade that they’ve been around.”

The Wall Street Journal reported in June that McMahon had allegedly paid hush money to 4 former female WWE stars. It was also alleged that the amount added up to $12 million. McMahon would announce his retirement in July amid a massive uproar.
At 77, time for me to retire.

A return for the former chairperson seems highly unlikely, according to WWE sources. The change in the regime surely has brought a change in the promotion’s approach. Fresh feuds and a return of many formerly released talents have helped boost the ratings of WWE. Only time will tell whether the promotion is able to capitalize on these successes in the long term.
