At the moment, there is no bigger star than LA Knight. Not only the man has the entire WWE Universe under his grasp but also many veterans and analysts. But the question remains, why isn’t he at the top of the card every single night? To answer this question, who’s best to ask but the man behind Knight’s run in his previous company, TNA?

But the answer that his previous boss gave might harken to the same notion that has been bugging WWE fans for decades.

Sitting down with Chris Van Vliet, the booker of TNA, Billy Corgan, talked about one of the company’s biggest mistakes. Not pushing LA Knight, who was Eli Drake in TNA was one of the biggest missed opportunities in the company’s history. Among stars like AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, and Jeff Hardy, Knight would’ve been a perfect fit to play the cocky heel.

Talking about why it didn’t happen, Corgan mentioned, “We are very big with our main event guys. So a guy who is 6’1 6’2 can look small and optics in the product can be an issue. If you’re going to be 5’9 or 6’1. you got to be one of the all-time greats. You got to be Rey Mysterio, Shawn Michaels. Does he have that level of ability? Can he wrestle at that level? Yes, I’ve seen it, I know it. I would not have an ounce of doubt.

Having worked in both NWA and TNA, Corgan understands the optics that suits inside the room take into account. But even WWE fans’ biggest complaint with Vince McMahon was that the boss used to prefer big guys over stars like Daniel Bryan or Rey Mysterio. But we don’t think that’s the same case with Knight and WWE is already behind the man when it comes to pushing him to the moon.

Why is WWE all the way behind LA Knight right now?

Right now, Knight is on his way to have a match with The Miz at WWE Payback. While nothing is set in stone, the promos and the tenacity between the two led many fans to believe that the A-lister will be the next domino that Knight tumbles on his way to the main event. Being a WWE veteran, The Miz is the perfect folly for Knight and a great testing ground for the fan favorite.

Couple this with Triple H’s comments about Knight’s place in the WWE, and it is clear that Hunter is listening to the crowd. Unlike McMahon, The Game is not fixated on the bodies of his wrestlers but on their abilities and skills in the ring.
