In 2019, Roman Reigns would return and declared himself to be in remission. He would then go on a full-time run before declaring himself out of WrestleMania 36. WrestleMania 36 took place during the covid season, and it was believed that Reigns opted out because of his past battles with leukemia.

Soon after choosing to stay out of WrestleMania 36, news went around that battles with leukemia have left him immunocompromised. However, Reigns would also later release a statement saying, “you don’t know the whole story. All you know is what you think: ‘Oh, well, his health,’ and this and that. You don’t know what else is going on in my life.”

The Big Dog would later return at SummerSlam 2020 with a new look and character, and begin his greatest gimmick, and journey of all time. In 2022, fans would see Reigns sign a new contract with WWE allowing him to wrestle much fewer dates than normal.

Soon, after this news went out, WWE legend Mark Henry passed his own opinion on the matter. He said, “He can’t even be around all the time, crowds and stuff, because [of] the medicine that he takes … He needs rest. Like, not from wrestling, for living … I have a friend that had leukemia. And when we’re in the car, he wears a mask … just not to breathe the air.”

However, it was just Henry’s point of view. Ever since Reigns’ return in 2020 there has been no news of his leukemia returning, or him being unfit for a match. Reigns is currently in the best shape of his life, and faces a tough challenge ahead of him at WrestleMania XL.
