CM Punk‘s storyline has been building up with two top wrestlers at the same time. The direction that WWE is reportedly going for is not a triple-threat match. However, for any kind of match to take place, Punk would first have to get medically cleared since he suffered an agonizing tricep injury after Royal Rumble this year.

We have been watching him interfere in different matches to help build a storyline for the future since it didn’t require him to get medically cleared. This is not how a match would work, as Punk would have to get physically involved. So, what seems to be the status so far?

Is CM Punk cleared yet?

After he interfered during the World Heavyweight Championship match at Clash at the Castle, Punk has been showing up often. It was even officially mentioned that he was soon to get medically cleared, but WWE is still keeping him on the sidelines.

This could be because he is not cleared yet. Needless to say, that moment could arrive any day now. There were reports earlier about how Punk will be discharged on the 29th of July, just five days before SummerSlam, making him available to wrestle against anyone that he is booked with.

As of now, both Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre are on CM Punk’s trail. Both the wrestlers want a piece of him for ruining their shot at the same title. A chance that they probably wouldn’t be getting again and again.

So, will WWE be able to serve them justice simultaneously?

Who will CM Punk be up against if he shows up at SummerSlam?

The fans probably have all kinds of theories about what could go down at SummerSlam. When talking about the possibility of the same, Dave Meltzer reported that WWE is not going to go forward with a triple-threat match as some would have expected, or even wanted. Instead, the promotion could be aiming to first get Punk and The Scottish Warrior in the ring against each other, since he is the one that the Chicago-based wrestler has the most heat against. Additionally, we may also see the former WHC getting involved in the match by interfering much like how “The Best in the World” did.

The only issue with such a booking would be that if CM Punk loses the match even on fair grounds, fans wouldn’t like it since he is a WWE legend. So, the match at SummerSlam between McIntyre and him could end up in a no-contest due to Seth Rollins’ involvement, allowing WWE to move ahead with a triple-threat rivalry between them for another upcoming PLE or weekly show. This way, the former AEW star will get to learn his lesson, and the other two stars will also have had the match against him as they desired, without teaming up together.

Who do you want to see CM Punk wrestle against as soon as he gets cleared?
