Io Shirai and Zoey Stark make history at WWE NXT Great American Bash
Indi Hartwell and Io Shirai kicked off the match, and the ‘Genius of the Sky’ looked to quickly get the upper hand. She got the bigger Hartwell down with a series of offensive moves. However, the ‘Wicked Step Sister’ bounced back and took control of Shirai. Indi tagged in Candice as the two continued to work on Io.
The double team momentum didn’t last long as the former NXT Women’s Champion made a strong comeback. She then tagged in Zoey Stark and the two showed an impressive feat of strength and teamwork. How? Well, they delivered a picture-perfect double vertical suplex.

Zoey Stark and Io Shirai’s team had the upper hand, but things changed when Shirai missed a moonsault on Candice LeRae. The champions then gained control of the match. In fact, both Stark and Shirai were caught in tandem submission moves; Io Shirai in the Garga-No Escape and Zoey Stark in the Silencer.
Luckily, the ‘Genius of the Sky‘ reversed the Garga-No Escape into a roll-up, thus breaking the hold. However, The Way were quick to get back on the winning front until something really weird happened. Just as The Way were about to put down Io Shirai, the lights went off and the battery turned green and completed 100%.
