Soon Tony Khan could snag the opportunity to sign a few WWE stars for his company as their contracts are coming to an end. Ricochet is one performer who is set to loosen his professional ties with WWE in a matter of days. Reports haven’t confirmed whether the wrestler will continue with the Stamford-based company.

Industry insiders are continuously discussing the possibility of Ricochet joining Tony Khan’s promotion for a change. However, ‘change’ is not the only reason why he would be eager to switch. Fightful had an interesting take on why Ricochet could sign with AEW.

Ricochet’s Monday Night Raw defeat could prove beneficial for Tony Khan

Ricochet is the reigning WWE Speed Champion but his storylines in the promotion aren’t that captivating for fans. One reason behind this is the booking that we are observing for the titleholder. Even recently, we saw him lose to Bron Breakker on Raw 03/06.

According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, these booking ideas could lead to him joining AEW.

The industry insider said, “I think it’s fair to say that he [Ricochet] can do an awful lot in AEW, it’s just a matter of, would he be booked appropriately?” When his co-host, Denise, argued that AEW already has plenty of wrestlers that do Ricochet’s style of wrestling and don’t ‘need’ him, Sean added, “They don’t need him. [But] I know they’d be interested.”

There are more stars whose WWE contract is coming to an end. This will allow Tony Khan to put his hands on more than one superstar for his own promotion. Among all the names, the high flyer could have a personal reason that could nudge him to join AEW.

An industry insider claims Ricochet could follow his heart and join AEW

Reports regarding Ricochet’s contract don’t reveal any discrepancies in the paycheck that he is receiving from his workplace. So, it’s possible that the contract that both WWE and AEW can offer will have Ricochet content. However, Dave Meltzer believes that it is all about where his heart is and where he would like to work.

The fanbase felt like he wouldn’t leave WWE because his fiance still works for the Stamford-based company. However, there are many wrestling couples who have, and are still, working for different promotions at the same time. The only scenario that could have stopped him from leaving WWE is no longer a hindrance. So, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Ricochet jump ships this year unless the booking plays out in his favor.
