Does Dominik Mysterio deserve a shot at the Intercontinental Title, or is this pure favoritism?

WWE has been gearing up to pull in another marquee PLE in Uber Arena, Berlin, Germany next weekend. Despite all the exciting matches stacked on the card, the immediate hype is on the epic Intercontinental tournament. Since there’s not much time left for the drama to play out, it will be a quick build. WWE has already declared Jey Uso and Dominik Mysterio to be on opposite ends for the prize. The others who could chime in are Dragon Lee, Ilja Dragunov, Otis, Kofi Kingston, and Karrion Kross. Tonight on Raw, the company fanned up the fanfare by specifying some rules for the match.

WWE announced rules for the much awaited Intercontinental Championship Tournament

The red brand show showed us Bron Breakker walking with his dog as the Intercontinental Championship Tournament gets underway. Two triple threats are supposed to occur tonight. The Miz vs. Xavier Woods vs. Pete Dunne and Kofi Kingston vs. Karrion Kross vs. Jey Uso are the matches scheduled for tonight according to Raw GM Adam Pearce. The rest of the tournament will be reserved for post-Bash. There was no information available about the nature of the match until tonight when they announced it would be a four-man match, not six men. Also, the rule enables the winners of those 4 matches to compete in a Fatal 4-way and to challenge Bron Breakker for the Title.

Two triple-threat matches in the Intercontinental title contender’s tournament will pan out next week, with Ilja Dargunov vs. Dragon Lee vs. Dominik Mysterio taking part in one three-way, and Sheamus vs. Bronson Reed vs. Ludwig Kaiser locking horns in the other. The respective winners of the two matches will head to join the YEET master and Pete Dunne in a four-way match on the September 9 WWE Raw. The final winner will go on to challenge Bron Breakker’s intercontinental crown.

While the path to the title is pretty long and we still don’t know who can sustain all the steps, the chance of Jey Uso walking away with the belt made the most sense. Ever since his solo ride started off, the wrestler has been doing exceptionally well. He quickly rose to the rank of getting megastar treatment from the fanfare every time he stepped onto the stage. But despite all the hype, the former Bloodline member is yet to have a massive title run on Raw. So, the collective demand is rooting for him to bask in. Also, securing the big win will boost his momentum ahead of the inevitable Bloodline return.
