Around three years ago in 2020, Sonya Deville fell victim to a major stalking incident. The accused, Phillip Arnold Thomas was recently put behind bars for 15 years. The incident saw him being obsessed with Deville, sending her spine-chilling messages, and even kidnapping threats.

Thomas even threatened to kill Deville’s girlfriend as well. However, he was soon arrested, and a recent verdict saw him imprisoned for 15 long years. However, despite this good news, Deville was not left content with the decision. During an interview with Maria Menounos, she revealed she was left “bittersweet” with the decision.

The 29-year-old WWE superstar said, “It’s bittersweet. I was mentally prepared to [go to trial], and then it went a different way. I’m very grateful of the outcome, I think it’s great and my lawyers are happy with it, so I trusted their advisement and I think it’s good. “

Thomas had pleaded guilty to offenses such as aggravated stalking, armed burglary, and kidnapping. And thus, his verdict was presented without a trial. Deville claimed that she was prepared for something else, and wanted to go to the trial, and thus was left with mixed emotions.
