WWE Raw Women’s Champion Asuka suffered an injury last week on Raw during a tag team match against Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler. ‘The Empress of Tomorrow’ did not appear on Raw this week and is most likely nursing her injury. But what is the injury, and how long will she stay out of action?

Asuka injury update, a possible return date

Dave Meltzer recently spoke about Asuka’s injury on the latest episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio. Speaking about Asuka, Meltzer said that he believes she not only lost a tooth but possibly suffered a concussion too. He also added that no mention of Asuka’s injury or return means that it could be a concussion.

WWE has confirmed nothing about a concussion. It could very well be possible that Asuka may be getting dental treatment done. That might be the reason for the absence this week. Otherwise, she could have legitimately suffered a mild concussion that requires her to stay out of action for a few weeks.

WWE is strict with its concussion policy. If there were any major scares, they wouldn’t have planted the seeds for a WrestleMania match between Asuka’s long-time rival and current tag team partner, Charlotte Flair.

We believe the ‘Empress of Tomorrow’ will return to action in a couple of weeks to begin her WrestleMania program with ‘The Queen.’

Why is WWE going with Charlotte Flair vs Asuka again at WrestleMania?

Asuka, alongside Bayley and Sasha Banks, was the pillar who held the women’s division and Raw together during the pandemic era. Just as WWE moved to the ThunderDome, it seemed like Asuka was getting lost in the shuffle.

The Raw Women’s Champion slipped into feuds against the likes of Zelina Vega and then formed a tag team with Lana. Luckily, Asuka and Lana never became an official team as Charlotte Flair replaced the latter.

One of the major reasons WWE is going ahead with this WrestleMania 34 rematch is to give the Japanese sensation a legit program for the ‘Show of Shows.’ There is no other woman on Raw that WWE has established in recent months to challenge Asuka at WrestleMania.

For those unaware, these two women met at WrestleMania 34 where Charlotte ended Asuka’s undefeated streak. It’ll be a perfect story if Asuka defeats Charlotte Flair to retain the Raw Women’s Championship. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below!
