A new detail has emerged in the ongoing saga of Mercedes Moné a.k.a Sasha Banks. The star hasn’t wrestled since May 21. 2023 after becoming a free agent. It was reported that she had sustained an injury following a match that night. However, after her contract expired, there have been no developments as to when she might return to WWE. While the speculations of her debut at AEW have been debunked, an industry insider revealed why things might not be working between her and other wrestling promotions.
What’s stopping Mercedes Mone from returning to the ring?
As per Fightful, the only thing the parties are not able to agree upon is the financial aspect. It was revealed that Mone’s asking price is way higher compared to that of Charlotte Flair’s current contract. The Queen of WWE recently signed a new contract with WWE, making her the highest-paid female star in the company’s history. Apart from that, a private tour bus has also been included in Flair’s contract. With that in mind, it really makes us wonder what Moné’s demands are in the first place.

Mone, who used to go by the name of Sasha Banks at WWE has been an immensely popular star since her debut at the Stamford-based promotion. It is safe to say that she has created history on various occasions.
Arguably, the defining moment of her career was how she dethroned Charlotte Flair back in 2016 and became the Raw Women’s Champion for the first time in her career. She also had the opportunity to main-event WrestleMania 32 back in 2016. There she fought against Flair and Becky Lynch for the WWE Women’s Championship title. Even though she was defeated by Flair, fans still commended her for putting on a great show.
