“Incredibly Unfair and Biased”: Fans Itching James Gunn to Kick John Cena Out of DCEU Following Henry Cavill’s Superman Exit

Despite casting some of the biggest names in Hollywood, the DC-Warner Bros. superhero universe seems in turmoil for one reason or another. The fans thought that the studio had turned a page when Henry Cavill was reintroduced into the DCEU in Black Adam.

But as it turned out, it was a red herring. Cavill announced he won’t be returning as Superman after discussions with new DC bosses. Moreover, it looks like the future of other superhero movies in DC is also in doubt.

New DC co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran want to start with a clean slate and this was the reason behind Cavill’s dramatic exit from the franchise. This hasn’t gone down well with the fans, who are now angrily calling for the removal of all actors connected to the previous DCEU, including WWE star John Cena and his Peacemaker.

The topic became a hot debate after a Reddit user posted a thread saying that Cena and Harley Quinn actress Margot Robbie should also get the boot following Cavill’s departure.

Fans want John Cena and his Peacemaker gone from the DCEU

DC looked to be on course to correct mistakes of the past. The comic-book franchise hired popular director James Gunn to revamp its superhero universe and Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam was the one to lead this new era. After Henry Cavill made a much-awaited return as Superman in Black Adam, things looked bright for the future DCEU.

But a few days after announcing plans for a new Superman movie, Cavill announced his departure from the franchise.

DC studios announced plans for a reboot and also move away from the SnyderVerse. There are also reports that many of the current actors in the DCEU would either be recast into new characters or won’t return at all.

As such, fans on social media are saying that John Cena and other stars of Suicide Squad should also be getting the same treatment.

Reddit user u/General_Keyboard posted a thread saying if DC wants to wipe the slate clean and disconnect from the SnyderVerse then John Cena and Margot Robbie should go as well.

He wrote, “If Gunn is kicking Cavill to the curb and doing a hard re-boot of the DCEU, he needs to be fair – Margot Robbie and John Cena have to go too.”

It is to be noted that James Gunn directed Suicide Squad 2, which launched John Cena as Peacemaker. Gunn is also the mind behind the Peacemaker TV series on HBO Max.

Many users on the thread agreed with the sentiment and believed Gunn shouldn’t play favorites.

James Gunn has a huge task at their hands if they are to turn around the fortunes of DC. Not only that, but they would also have to placate a disgruntled fanbase.

As for John Cena, it will be hard for the new DCEU to completely write off his character. The Peacemaker series proved to be a hit among fans and critics alike. Many fans applauded Cena’s acting chops in the role of the anti-superhero.
