Cody Rhodes has truly reshaped his career. After a controversial run at AEW, wherein he became a polarized figure during the latter point of his run. He revamped himself during his latest WWE run, resulting in a rejuvenated American Nightmare.

Now in a recent interview, Rhodes opened up about his days in AEW where the fans booed him. He also explained what made his current WWE run different.

Cody Rhodes has always been a fluent talker. In an interview with Notsam Wrestling hosted by Sam Roberts, Rhodes shed light on his AEW days. He disclosed details about the time when AEW fans booed him and how the current landscape has changed in WWE.

The American Nightmare also reminisced about his old AEW days and said: “at AEW, I think trying to do what I was doing there at the end was just a bit too meta.” He added how “it didn’t work, in a sense.”

Addressing the polarised crowds, he spoke about being from the John Cena era and loved it. Talking about John Cena, he exclaimed: “I love the polarized, split crowds because obviously I am part of the Cena era of our industry so I loved it.”

Talking about his current run and the shifting perception of the WWE audience, Rhodes said: I think it’s because they knew what you were seeing was real.

Rhodes endured a shaky few years in his initial WWE run but he turned the tables around. Over the years, he has mastered the art of adapting his persona to meet the requirements of today’s Babyface.

Rhodes will try to cover all the blueprints of his life in his documentary called WWE American Nightmare- Becoming Rhodes. The documentary premiers on Peacock on July 31st.
