“I’m Not a Steroid Abuser”: WWE Legend Hulk Hogan Once Shed Light on ‘Right Decision’ to Take Steroids Despite Being Broke

The WWE Universe knows the legendary wrestler Hulk Hogan as one of the toughest men there is in the business. However, during his long career in wrestling, he has had multiple injuries which affected him professionally and personally. That being said, the legend once highlighted his one-of-a-kind therapy that involved consuming steroids.

Hogan has been a part of the pro wrestling business for decades. And it wouldn’t be incorrect to say that his impressive physique made ‘The Hulkster’ a stand-out performer in his prime. But with such fame came a lot of trouble for the legend. He was at the center of allegations of steroid use. However, one of his interviews from 1991 showed him detailing his choice of therapy and prescribed steroids. 

Hulk Hogan opened up about his unique therapy that involved consuming steroids

Speaking on The Arsenio Hall Show back in 1991, Hogan clearly stated, “I’m not a steroid abuser and I do not use steroids.” If you think that’s the end, it’s not.

After claiming not to be a steroid abuser, he immediately added, “But, there’s a situation where steroids, Hulk Hogan, and my private physicians have something all in common.”

The Hall of Fame legend then mentioned getting severely injured in the ring on three different occasions. However, then Hogan made a decision to go into sports therapy rather than surgery, which involved several cuts to his body. And in following this “right decision,” the legend also had to take steroids prescribed by his private physicians.

He said, “At that time, I didn’t have any money, so basically, I made the right decision, and that sports therapy involved hours of ultrasound to get the blood going again and the electric stim to get the nerves going, and the deep muscle massage, and prescription drugs by my physician that I trusted.”

According to The Hulkster, this was the case where he had to take the ‘legally prescribed drugs’ that involved basic anti-inflammatories and a synthetic male hormone, which is a form of a steroid. 

This debate about the use of steroids by wrestlers is going on for ages now. Everybody has their own opinion. Even a WWE legend once shared a jaw-dropping detail about Hogan’s steroid use. However, even though the drug scandal hit the popularity of Hulkamania, he came through it.
