Working in Hollywood might look like an easy job, but it’s the complete opposite. Especially for an action star, being on top of their game is crucial and Dwayne Johnson understood this even when he was just starting his acting career.

Even when his movies, during his first few years in the industry, were making nothing and flopping one after the other, Johnson didn’t quit. He learned from them and worked extra hard to get the big roles and make himself a household name. One of the biggest examples of this outstanding behavior is his work on the 2005 film, ‘Doom’ and its shooting.

Sitting down during the press for his movie with ‘Hollywoord.com’, the interviewer asked Johnson about the difficulties in filming the movie. Being a native Samoan and Californian, Johnson is adept at lush forests and the ocean on the side, but for this film, the location was Prague. The filmmakers chose the capital of the Czech Republic for its industrial and futuristic look for Doom.

But this didn’t sit well with Johnson. While he made up for it with other things in the city, there was one thing that he needed more than anything. Who knew Johnson needed a cable connection to keep from going crazy?

He said, “I’m miserable.’ You’re away from home. Your family’s not there. I found great places to eat. I’m kind of like a cow. If I’m watered and fed, then I can work. You can work me all day. But I called my agent and said, ‘Please. Just get me a satellite. It’s all I need. So I can watch anything other than CNN International.’ It was the only thing on and it was driving me crazy.

In fact, there were no lunch breaks during the filming of the movie. As per Johnson, a guy would walk around with food and people had to just take some if they were hungry.

Just imagine that this was during his formative years in Hollywood. The Rock now is a monster when it comes to producing and releasing movies, especially after opening up his own production house, Seven Bucks Production.

The Rock’s baffling work ethic in Hollywood

Leaving WWE, the place that propelled his success, was a big step for The Rock. So he had to put all his efforts into becoming a successful actor. While it was a rocky beginning, Johnson quickly understood the rhythm that could make him a successful actor. After his career turning point in Fast 5, Johnson took the reins of his own career.

Today, his formula is pretty simple. While he is shooting a film, his team in Seven Bucks prepares the next movie catered to The Rock’s audience. Then, when the shooting for one movie is over, the next one begins immediately while Johnson is still marketing and promoting the previous movie.

With Johnson’s commitment to the job, he doesn’t take a lot of time like other actors and gets done with movies like his work in WWE. But now he’s been expanding and delving more into entrepreneurship and his newly re-opened XFL league.
