The Final Raw before WrestleMania dished out a major tease on the fate of the epic Cody Rhodes vs Roman Reigns clash at WrestleMania Night 2. The most awaited rematch has found itself coming to fruition a year after The American Nightmare failed to get it done on the first shot. The rumors and anticipation have reached a fever pitch. Most fans are rooting for Rhodes while others fear a reprise of the WrestleMania 39 tragedy. But Michael Cole on the red brand tonight almost assured all the Cody Rhodes fans with a not-so-subtle reference.

Michael Cole alludes to dreary Roman Reigns future post WrestleMania

Roman Reigns has cemented his status as one of the most dominant champions in WWE history. He has held his coveted Undisputed Universal Championship title for a record-breaking 1300+ days and aims to add to his collection. He said, ”Once I lose the WWE Undisputed championed, I’m calling it quits.”

Tonight, as Michael Cole welcomed us to Monday Night Raw, he confirmed Reigns’ confession on the A&E doc (”If I lose the championship Sunday night to Cody Rhodes then I am gone’‘) and put a million-dollar question forward: ”Does tonight mark the final appearance of Roman Reigns as Champion.”?

While Cody Rhodes is heading to the main event as the clear favorite, with fans and veterans heavily rallying behind him, there are ample arguments for WWE to still snub him for another year and crown the Tribal Chief once again. Rhodes finishing his story sounds tempting emotionally. However, WWE might not pull the rug on the fan-favorite Bloodline saga too soon, ruining future storyline possibilities. Secondly, they might not deem it wise to let go of the major attraction factor attached to every Roman Reigns title defense too soon, at least before SummerSlam. His appeal is at an all-time high and the merger between UFC and WWE could capitalize on this.

The Tribal Chief’s presence for the next Saudi Arabia show and SummerSlam is expected. Hence retiring after losing the title seems far-fetched.
