The Attitude Era of WWE is one of the most significant periods in the history of the company. This era gave rise to several legends that the fans now know. Names such as Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Kane, Triple H, and many more.

However, this period also saw several superstars gaining more popularity than others did . While Austin became one of the highest-selling merchandise franchises, The Rock earned a different fame for himself as he made his way into the Hollywood scene. This, however, raised questions about Austin becoming jealous of Johnson. Back in 1999, an interviewer bombarded Dwayne Johnson with his question, but The Brahma Bull handled it gracefully.

In 1999, Dwayne Johnson would visit the ‘OFF THE RECORD’ show with Michael Landsberg. On the show, they would discuss several topics, including the potential jealousy issues of Stone Cold Steve Austin against The Rock.

When asked if Austin got jealous of Johnson’s rising fame and popularity, he would handle the situation. Johnson said, “As far as for Steve being jealous you know, in all as a shoot? No he wasn’t jealous. I am going to tell you why because what happens is, once you reach a certain level you understand the business. You understand what it takes, you understand that.”

He would further claim that superstars in the locker-room understood how things happened, and the success of one particular superstar meant success for everyone.

The Rock said, “Once you reach that level, there are certain guys like that. Steve, for example, is like that. The Undertaker is like that. And a couple of other guys who realize that this guy is gonna help everyone as I realized. Stone Cold, the more success to him, it helps out everybody. More success of The Rock, it helps out everybody.”

However, he would conclude that there existed some people who got jealous, but that was not his concern. And indeed, Johnson did not care about others’ opinions, and followed his own path to success, eventually reaching the top.

Nevertheless, it was not all cordial and merry at WWE backstage with The Rock forming tensions with one particular superstar.

Dwayne Johnson was a well-liked personality on the roster and shared good ties with everyone. He had a different kind of beef with Mr.WrestleMania, Shawn Michaels. The Attitude Era saw both The Rock and HBK rise to stardom.

While Johnson entered the scene in 2006, Michaels was already an established name by then. However, apart from their professional rivalry, the two shared a personal beef from their early days when Michaels had disrespected The Rock’s grandmother during a show in Hawaii.

They would never partake in a feud with each other. Although, that didn’t stop them from having a confrontation backstage after a stiff Sweet Chin music by Michaels to Johnson. However, things never escalated to a great height, and with their wrestling history behind them, their animosity might be over.
