Lacey Evans was one tough personality in the pro wrestling industry. After serving in the military for five years, she joined NXT in 2016. Slowly working up the ranks, she was the first challenger Becky Lynch faced after Lynch won the Raw Women’s Championship title at WrestleMania 35. Evans, who was known for her fierce nature, exited the promotion in August 2023.
Since her release, the star has been seen helping build a better community. Recently in an interview, she opened up about the motivation behind her new endeavor and how the way she was treated backstage proved to be the last straw for her to quit.

Lacey Evans was invited by Mandy Rose and Tino Sabbatelli on the latest episode of the Power Alphas Podcast. While discussing her time at the promotion, she said, “I’m going to p*ss a lot of people off on this podcast today. I don’t give a sh*t. You know, like you can’t cancel me at this point.” She went on to say, “To begin with back then how I lasted seven years in WWE, the mouth was the same one backstage,” indicating that she was never afraid to voice her opinions.
Thinking about the fights she got into, she said, “I can’t tell you how many damn fights I almost got into. I verbally told them every time I’ll work at McDonald’s before I ever sit back and have anybody talk to me the way that you’re talking,” implying that she won’t be taking any form of disrespect. Evans then said that the only thing she owed to the people there was a good fight in the ring.
On the podcast, she also spoke about how this had affected her in many aspects. But though most people thought this was her reason to leave the ring, the real cause was personal.
Lacey Evans had other fights outside the ring
In an interview, The Lady of NXT said that being constantly on the road was not in favor of her mental health. Even though she was grateful for her time at the promotion, she had a personal battle to deal with. While she was serving in the Marine Corps, Evans had lost her father.
Her father had been dealing with mental health problems, along with substance abuse, which eventually led to his passing. Evans thinks that the mental health community needs help, and she wants to provide that help.
