At NXT Battleground 2024, Roxanne Perez retained the NXT Women’s Championship against Jordynne Grace in a match that featured Tatum Paxley and Ash By Elegance. Besides The Prodigy adding a new defense to her resume, what captured the limelight was her interaction with CM Punk. Through their social media platform, WWE published an exclusive video of Perez being interviewed after her victory.

The Prodigy expressed her frustration at the fact that the interviewer feigned surprise that she won against Jordynne Grace. However, CM Punk appeared to try to calm the waters and advise Perez. The champion’s response was more than surprising, as she called Punk a hypocrite. That too just days after praising him. And it seems like Punk’s wife agrees with it, as she has come up in support of Perez recently on Twitter. In fact, she claimed that she would fight CM Punk on the NXT champion’s behalf.

At first glance, this attitude of Roxanne Perez is surprising after taking into account that she trained with CM Punk on different occasions since The Best in the World returned to WWE. So there’s no doubt that she might’ve gotten closer to Punk’s wife and former Diva’s Champion AJ Lee as well. So when Perez talked about calling Punk a hypocrite, AJ Lee replied to her tweet. She said that she loves Perez and jokingly added that she would even go one-on-one against her husband for her. As she wrote, “omg haha i love my daughters ill fight him for you.”

However, it is worth noting that this is part of Perez’s new role as a heel that she has adopted since the end of March. It remains to be seen who her next challenger will be in the future. But for now, CM Punk’s rival Drew McIntyre has also jumped in to show his support for the NXT Women’s champion as he took a jibe at Punk on Twitter.

The Cult of Personality’s biggest rival today is Drew McIntyre. The Scottish Warrior once again made his presence known on social media. He took advantage of the aforementioned situation to attack CM Punk. McIntyre stated that even the people who once idolized Punk when they were little are now tired of him. He wrote, “Even people who grew up idolizing CM Punk are sick of him.”

Eventually, Punk and McIntyre will step into the ring to face off in a head-to-head match, either with a title on the line or not. The Scotsman has already promised the Voice of the Voiceless a match to end their feud. Until then, the two will continue to criticize each other in every way possible. Especially McIntyre, who has shown an exceptional ability to use his social media accounts to taunt and mess with Punk since the beginning of the year. What do you think? Was Punk a hypocrite for stopping Perez? Let us know in the comments.
