“I’ll Admit It”: Dwayne Johnson and John Cena Were Used as Pawns by Former WWE Employee to Insult Billionaire Vince McMahon

With the exception of his contentious career, former WWE chairperson Vince McMahon is one of the organization’s most respected individuals. The Big Man changed professional wrestling and turned it into a household name. However, a lot of his former employees have noted that were furious with the way he managed the company.

Therefore, to express his rage towards the former WWE CEO, a former WWE writer admitted that he purposefully vented his rage on him several times through Dwayne Johnson, John Cena, and other superstars of that stature.

WWE has employed Brian Gewirtz for more than 15 years, and he has been with the organization through its high points and low points. He, therefore, had extensive experience dealing with McMahon, and during that time, he occasionally became enraged with him due to a conflict of interest or simply because the former chairperson insulted him, for which he was well known.

But since he was unable to criticize his employer directly, he chose WWE superstars to act on his behalf. He wrote about it in his book, “There’s Just One Problem…: True Tales from the Former, OneTime, 7th Most Powerful Person in WWE.”

He stated, “I certainly couldn’t say highly insulting, flat-out disrespectful things to the man who signed my paychecks. But the Rock, Chris Jericho, John Cena, and plenty of others could. I’ll admit it— there were times when I got upset with Vince. I just bit my tongue and had a character express what I was feeling live on the air. It was a warped but very effective form of therapy. How did the former WWE writer use Dwayne Johnson and other celebrities to bash Vince McMahon?

In his run as a heel, the WWE Universe has seen The Rock as an egotistical and arrogant figure on WWE who doesn’t give a damn who it is against him, even if it’s his employer. Being the top WWE writer, Gewirtz took advantage of his position by simply penning segments or a storyline where WWE superstars like The Rock and John Cena reprimanded McMahon.

Additionally, he pointed out that in those instances where McMahon was being attacked; it was just him venting via his thoughts. According to him, using the superstars as a channel for his feelings served as therapy.
