Ilja Dragunov Feels WWE Champion Bobby Lashley Would be a Perfect Test for Him

The newly crowned NXT UK Champion Ilja Dragunov revealed he would love to fight with WWE Champion Bobby Lashley. A few weeks back, Ilja Dragunov defeated WALTER at the NXT Takeover 36 to win the NXT UK title. This was the second time that Dragunov faced WALTER, as in their first battle, the former NXT UK Champion had the upper hand. But this time, Ilja gave his all to conquer WALTER and win the coveted NXT UK title.

The victory against WALTER at NXT Takeover made Ilja Dragunov the first-ever Russian-born WWE champion. Before signing for WWE, Dragunov was very active in independent wrestling shows and won multiple championships along the way. Ilja signed for WWE back in 2019 and was a huge part of the NXT UK show. He then made his NXT debut this year on August 10th of NXT and fought Dunne in a losing effort because of the distraction created by WALTER.

After his victory over WALTER, Ilja Dragunov spoke with Vicente Beltrán of ViBe & Wrestling about his WWE Career and much more. Dragunov was asked which WWE Superstar from the main roster he would love to face one day during the conversation. Draganov replied by naming the current WWE Champion Bobby Lashley as his dream opponent.

“I think Bobby Lashley would be great competition. This is something that would fit with my will, with my intensity, and this is something I think people would be very interested to see it because this is a thing of power. The obvious power of Bobby Lashley and the power of my will and my endurance.”– added Ilja Dragunov.

Dragunov vs WALTER never disappoints

When these two talented superstars collide, fans expect something extraordinary. Ilja and WALTER faced each other for the first time in 2020, and the match was an absolute thriller. Both superstars used their wrestling ability to outsmart each other, which turned out to be a treat for the WWE Universe. In the end, WALTER was the one who walked out victorious. This time around, Ilja wanted no excuse as he prepared himself for one heck of a match.

The match at NXT Takeover was equally or even more than impressive than their first bout. In the end, it was time for Ilja to be the new NXT UK Champion. Ilja made WALTER tap out to his submission, ending the gruesome match and WALTER’s reign of 871 days as the NXT UK Champion. Ilja’s victory against WALTER clarified the Russian cannot be outmatched with just pure muscle. Therefore, Fans would love to see a match between the ultimate powerhouse Bobby Lashley and Dragunov.
