Professional wrestlers work their hearts out to entertain fans. They have to maintain their fitness levels and stay in shape to remain match-fit. Apart from that, many wrestlers want to have a well-chiseled physique in order to try and succeed in the industry, as it is common practice. However, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray busted this myth that wrestlers must sport a shredded body to get to the top. The former professional wrestler mentioned WWE superstar, Kevin Owens, to illustrate his point.

Bully Ray points to Kevin Owens’ success story so far

In a recent interview, the WWE veteran explained why wrestlers don’t need abs. According to him, wrestlers think too much of the ripped physique and forget what actually draws the audience. Ray claimed, “I never needed, you know abs to be success(ful).” Bubba Ray, as he was known in WWE, won the tag team championship titles eight times in the promotion as part of The Dudley Boyz and was inducted into the Hall of Fame.

The 51-year-old billed Kevin Owens as an apt example to prove his point. Despite being a big name in the business, ‘The Prizefighter’ refrains from ripping his shirt off to flaunt his body. According to Bully Ray, Owens set his sights on more important things.

In the interview, Ray said, “I don’t think Kevin knows anybody named ‘Jim’ let alone go to one. But he doesn’t have to right.”

Therefore, the WWE Veteran understands why ‘Owens chooses to refrain from over-working himself at the gym because he works twice as hard to be athletic and deliver powerful strikes while winning the hearts of fans all over the world.

Bully Ray thinks highly of Owens and pointed at his recent WrestleMania achievement to further elaborate his point. Ray acknowledged this massive accomplishment and said “Because the Kevin Owens that got over and works to the degree that he works, where he’s main eventing one night at WrestleMania with Austin. Didn’t have to go to a gym and didn’t have to tan”

It’s a massive accomplishment for any fighter to headline the prestigious WrestleMania. Therefore, Ray thinks Owens did well with his body to get to the top.
